Safe travel to Greece
Since passenger safety is a very important issue for the Greek government, as well as its international counterparts, it became necessary to create a document that would contain passenger information.
The Passenger Locator Form (PLF) is now issued by Greek authorities and contains passenger information such as:
- Name;
- Gender;
- Date of birth;
- Type of passport and number;
- Flight details and route, including whether it is an internal flight or not;
- Organizational background of traveler (i.e.: company);
- Country of origin.
For citizens of countries who are members of the European Union or citizens of member states of other international treaties where there exists reciprocity, they aren't required to fill out Passenger Locator Forms.
Requirements and required documents
A new Passenger Locator Form that is easy to complete and provides all the necessary information may be filed online.
To file your Passenger Locator Form, you must:
- Be a passenger on an international flight departing from Greece and arriving at a Greek airport.
- Have submitted the Passenger Locator Form by the latest the day before your arrival in Greece if you are a permanent resident in Greece traveling on international flights departing from Greece.
- The Passenger Locator Form must be completed no later than 24 hours before departure when arriving from countries or airports other than those mentioned above. A confirmation of submission of your passenger locator will be sent to you via e-mail upon completion of the PLF.
- Be traveling with children 10 years old or younger, who are listed on their parents' Passenger Locator Form.
- The Passenger Locator Form should be submitted for each family member, including infants and children that do not have names ending in 'opoulos' or 'opoulou'. Additionally, your passport should also indicate the same family name as the Passenger Locator Form (e.g., Oulianovs instead of Oulianov).
- Complete your Passenger Locator Form no later than 24 hours before departure if you are a permanent resident in Greece traveling on international flights departing from Greece to countries or airports other than those mentioned above (1.).
- Make sure that you submit one Passenger Locator Form for each passenger.
- Passengers under the age of 18 should have their parents or legal guardians complete their Passenger Locator Form online.
- Be presenting your passport in order to file your Passenger Locator Form, even if you are only listed on the Passenger Locator Form (e.g., children 10 years old or younger).
- Provide correct information when filing your Passenger Locator Form by e-mail/online in order to be issued with a confirmation of submission of your passenger locator upon completion of the PLF. If there is incorrect information, this will result in delays at check-in and boarding gate so please ensure that you provide correct details in order to avoid inconvenience at the time of departure.
- Make sure that you have entered your e-mail address when filing your Passenger Locator Form online so that the confirmation of submission of your passenger locator may be sent to you via e-mail upon completion of the form.
